OUR VISION IS TO BE A CULTURALLY DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS THAT LEAD PEOPLE INTO A GROWING RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST, EQUIPPING THEM TO SHARE THE LOVE AND GRACE OF GOD IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES.
I am a “delta boy”, raised in Cleveland, Mississippi. I graduated from Cleveland High School in 1996. While in high school, I surrendered to the ministry. I went on to Delta State University, where I majored in Criminal Justice. In 1999, Beth and I got married. I finished DSU in 2000. During my college years, I had already begun preaching revivals, speaking at youth events and serving as the Youth Pastor at Parkview Baptist Church in Greenville, MS. In 1999, First Baptist Church of Cleveland called me to be their Youth Pastor. In 2000, Beth and I moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where God eventually led us to minister at Wynndale Baptist Church in the Byram/Terry area. After four years at Wynndale, God led us to Oxford, Mississippi where I served as the Associate Pastor/Pastor to Students at North Oxford Baptist Church from 2004 until 2014. Around 2012, God began planting seeds of what would later become the desire to plant a church in our hearts.
Music and Creative Pastor
I claim Petal, Mississippi as home. After being born in Louisiana, my family moved to the Hattiesburg area. I grew up at Carterville Baptist Church, where I gave my life to Christ and felt a call to ministry (which I tried to ignore for a while). After graduating from Petal High in 2007, I went on to William Carey University and graduated in 2011. I designed and printed t-shirts all through college before working at Hattiesburg Publishing. I also led worship with several different bands all over the Southeast region. All the while I was a part of the music ministry at First Baptist Hattiesburg, now Venture Church. Brooklee and I actually grew up together, but never dated until she was in college (and I came to my senses). In the Spring of 2013, she got accepted to the Clinical Psychology PhD program at The University of Mississippi. After searching for a job to be able to move to Oxford, God reminded me of that call to ministry. I reconnected with Fish that summer and moved to Oxford in September to help start Community Church. Brooklee and I got married on November 8th, 2014. We enjoy hanging out with our dog Van and pretending we are food critics.
Outreach Pastor/Teaching Elder
I was born and raised in Abbeville, MS. I accepted Christ at the age of 13. I graduated from Lafayette High School in 1994 and went on to serve in the USAF from 1995 to 2001. In 2004 I accepted my calling into ministry. Kylie and I got married in July of 2005. I was ordained in 2007 and served as the Youth Director at my home church, Jeffries Chapel in Abbeville. In May of 2013 I completed Downline and graduated from Bible College. I have been blessed with 3 wonderful kids (Zaria, Nick and Morgan).
Children's and Family Director
I was born in Mississippi but moved to Huntsville, Alabama at a young age. My parents are Christ-followers who provided me with a firm foundation for my faith. The local church played a huge part in mine story. I surrendered my life to Jesus at eleven years old and have been on an exciting journey of faith ever since. My large church in Huntsville provided me with multiple opportunities to serve as a children’s ministry intern, preteen ministry intern and to go on multiple mission trips. During college at Ole Miss, I developed a strong passion for international missions, invested in local children and families and met the man I would later marry, Joshua. In the time since graduating, I have completed the Downline Institute discipleship program, gotten married and gained three years of experience in early childhood education and the administration of child care centers. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, puzzles, reading missionary blogs and frequenting Holli’s Sweet Tooth.
I grew up a pastor’s kid, so church has been a part of my entire life. I spent the early part of my life on the East Coast then my family moved to California when I was a young teenager. I chose to go to a small Christian college in California where I met my now husband, Mike. We traveled all over the country as he played professional baseball, but we eventually settled down and stayed in one place for a while. During that time, I spent four years serving as a ministry assistant in the Children’s department at our church in Riverside, California. My family and I just spent the last few years living in Lake Charles, LA, and we moved to Oxford after Mike was hired as the softball coach at Ole Miss. Mike and I have two children, Ashlee and Tyler. I have really enjoyed learning all about the city of Oxford and of course, the amazing places to eat in town, especially Soulshine Pizza Factory. I’m looking forward to experiencing all of the athletic events and activities at Ole Miss and in the Oxford area.
