The phrase “Seek, Shape, Send” is a clear, concise way for us to state our mission. As you can see in the explanation below, we believe these three words are not only a reminder of what God has done for us, but also great markers and goals for how we are to live our lives.
God seeks us.
All throughout scripture we see God seeking us; in the Garden after Adam and Eve sinned , and more specifically, Jesus Christ coming to earth .
God shapes us.
When we choose to follow Christ we are shaped by him. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians we become “a new creation.” We are like clay in the hands of the Father as he molds and shapes us into his disciples.
God sends us.
God sends us out into the world to proclaim and preach the Gospel, and we should respond with the same heart as Isaiah saying, “Here I am, send me”.
God calls us to seek others.
As disciples of Christ, we have received the Holy Spirit and we are to spread the Gospel both near and far as we see in the book of Acts and the Great Commission.
God calls us to shape others.
As we seek others we are to shape, or disciple them. We see this modeled in Paul and Timothy’s relationship, as well as in 2 Timothy 2:2. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us to encourage and stir up love and good works in each other.
God calls us to send others.
Just as God sent us, we are to send others. We are to send out disciples on mission to fulfill the Great Commission and answer the call of Paul in Romans 10:14.
